In 2013 the international TensiNet association and Techtextil will organize the 12th Student Competition on 'Textile Structures for New Building.' Additionally, Techtextil is holding a competition for the ‘Textile Exhibition Stand’ special award.
This competition is designed to identify innovative thinking and innovative solutions to problems, featuring construction projects capable of concrete realisation which use textiles or textile-reinforced materials. A further aim is to encourage students and new entrants to the professions. The competition is further intended to strengthen contacts between the younger generation, the universities, the technical-textiles industry and broad sections of the building industry.
All students of architecture and building engineering, product design, or any other relevant subjects, are invited to apply. The competition will be run under the professional and technical supervision of Prof. Dr. Dr. E.h. Werner Sobek, Institute of Light Construction Design and Building (ILEK), University of Stuttgart.
An international jury including well known representatives from the universities, eminent architects and engineers will award for the competition "Textile Structures for New Building 2013" prizes worth 8,000 EUR in the following categories:
For the special award "Textile Exhibition Stand" 2,000 EUR will be available.

The brochure (download below) presents the works that emerged as the winners of the 11th Student Competition during Techtextil 2011. As with the previous competitions, a review of this year’s competition is certainly cause for celebration. The large number of entries from many countries and the high standard of work submitted provide impressive evidence of the opportunities offered by construction using textiles.
